African Green Businesses Target $10 Million in Funding
Five African businesses have been selected for the inaugural Nature-First Innovation Lab (NFIL), a 12-month accelerator programme designed to help environmentally focused enterprises become investment-ready and collectively attract an estimated US$10 million in funding.
The selected businesses operate in Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana and across East Africa, with activities spanning regenerative agriculture, natural ingredients, beekeeping, aquaculture and circular production. Their business models focus on generating revenue while protecting natural resources, restoring ecosystems and supporting local communities.
Through the programme, the enterprises will receive grants, financial planning assistance, governance support and guidance on measuring their environmental impact. They will also be connected with potential investors to help them expand their operations and access commercial funding.
The initiative seeks to address the financing challenges faced by businesses whose success depends on healthy ecosystems, demonstrating how environmental conservation and commercial growth can work together to support sustainable development across Africa.
